Oakland ReCAST Project and #OYACgivesback Releasing Mini-Grant

The City of Oakland Human Services Department’s (HSD) Youth Advisory Commission (OYAC) announced the release of the third #OYACgivesback Youth-to Youth mini-grant application: Supporting improved relations between youth, the community and law enforcement and Community Resiliency and Healing for Oakland.  #OYACgivesback is a project of Oakland Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST), an HSD initiative funded by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), which focuses on resiliency and equity for communities that have been impacted by high levels of violence, trauma and civil unrest. #OYACgivesback is one component of the project goal of supporting community work to address tensions in law enforcement-community relations and promote community healing. To support the goal, the Oakland Youth Commission will select creative and dynamic projects for mini-grants awards of up to $5,000, developed by youth between the ages of 13 and 21, to support and increase community resiliency and healing with specific focus on law enforcement and community relations. For updates follow OYAC’s Facebook page. Applications are due by 11:50 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. There is an informational video on how to apply for all interested applicants HERE.
