Oakland Unite Hosts Inaugural Grantee Meeting
On Thursday, March 17, the City of Oakland’s Human Services Department’s violence prevention and intervention programs, Oakland Unite, hosted an Inaugural Grantee Meetings for the twenty-four community-based organizations funded through the 2014 Public Safety and Services Act. The meeting was a chance for the Oakland Unite grantees to network as well as hear important procedural information from the Oakland Unite team.
The community -based organizations funded by Oakland Unite through the Safety & Services Act were able to reflect on their goals and intentions for the coming year. These violence prevention and intervention programs cover five main strategies: 1) Life Coaching/Case Management, 2) Education & Economic Self-Sufficiency, 3) Violence Incident & Crisis Response, 4) Community Asset Building, and 5) Innovation. Attendees of the meeting were given a chance to interact and discuss the importance of coordinating efforts and building cross-strategy collaborations.
