Oakland Street Outreach Training
Oakland Unite hosted a three day training for Oakland Street Outreach Workers from Wednesday, April 22 to Friday, April 24. The three day training was held at Oakland’s City Hall. The Oakland Street Outreach Workers from Healthy Oakland and Oakland California Youth Outreach attended the training that focused on team and capacity building. The Street Outreach Workers spent time analyzing their roles and responsibilities as violence interrupters, their personal work styles, and the importance of effective communication both on the streets and within their agencies. The positive impact of the work done by Oakland’s Street Outreach Workers can be seen in the evaluation data as 85% of participants touched by Oakland Street Outreach programs did not get rearrested for violence.
